Welcome to Battlestar Wiki Media
Battlestar Wiki Media is a repository of images, video and sound that either is deemed fair usable under United States copyright law or has been created by the fandom, and released under a copyleft license (GFDL or Creative Commons). it is maintained by volunteers from all over the globe.

The type of content we host includes episode screenshots, diagrams, convention videos, Battlestar-related personal photos, sound clips, and promotional photos.

As we use the same technology that runs the various language Battlestar Wikis, this repository is freely editable from your web-browser, without advanced technical skill. Unlike media that was originally uploaded into each project, everything here can be embedded into other wikis without having to upload separate copies of the same thing per wiki.

Information

Launched on August 20, 2006, Battlestar Wiki Media hosts a total of 8,156 files and contains 3,630 description pages and various media-related articles.

Participate
You can improve Battlestar Wiki Media most if you contribute what you can do best:

Contribute your work

If you're a good photographer, don't hesitate to contribute your valuable images. If you have done interviews and wish to license them in GFDL or Creative Commons, add them here. If you have taken video of discussion panels at conventions, feel free to upload it here.

Contribute your skills

However you do not need to upload your own files. There is plenty of other very important work to do:

Contribute your time

You even do not need to be a photographer or good at writing help texts. If you feel at home with creating order from chaos, then we could use your helping hand!

Getting started

Signing up

In order to be able to contribute files to Battlestar Wiki Media, you need to be logged in. You can register at the "Log in / create account" link in the upper right corner and enter a user name that will be used at all of your uploads/edits on images and texts.

Beginning

Our first steps help file will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

More information is available at the Community Portal. if you have questions for any one of our administrators, you may ask at the Administrators' noticeboard.

Files on the media repository are organized in categories and galleries. An overview of the categories we use is available on the Main Page as well as the list of categories.

Additional services and software

However if you are still afraid that it is too complicated for you or if you want to upload larger amounts of your own stuff, you can even use the File upload service to let other people upload your files for you. If you want to upload larger amounts of images by yourself the Java-based application Commonist will be helpful.

We hope that you will enjoy it and have fun at the Battlestar Wiki Media repository.
